As some of you may know, Chris and I adopted a beautiful Yellow Labrador last month. He was the sweetest dog.. trained and a good running partner. He took to us like we were his own. He got sick about a week or so after we got him. Runny nose, loss of appetite, loss of energy. So, we took him to the vet. He diagnosed him with just an upper-respiratory infection and gave us antibiotics to give him. Samson got worse through the few weeks and we took him back for another evaluation. This time the diagnosis was distemper. It's a virus that attacks their nervous system.
Samson, suffered through all the symptoms these passed few weeks, and through some reading, Chris knew that he wasn't going to get any better. Samson wanted to live, but the virus was taking over his body. He could barely walk, and when he did, he would wobble. He would fall to his knees and sometimes even flat on his face. The pads of his paws were so hard, it made it even more difficult to walk.
Today, Chris and I brought Samson back to the vet for his last evaluation. There, he was put to sleep. The distemper had taken over his complete nervous system that time would only tell when he would pass on his own.
We brought his body home and buried him in our backyard.

oh how sad! You guys have had some hard sad times with your doggies. I am sure Samson was happy to spend his last bit of life with you guys. Much nicer to be loved and cared for in the last month or so of his life then in the pound. Sorry and I hope you guys are OK.
I'm so sorry to hear that... poor guy. I'm sure he'll be waiting on the other side to give you happy, thank-you-for-loving-me kisses, but I'll have to send virtual *hugs* in the meantime... *more hugs*
Awwwwh, I'm so sorry to hear that! I know that losing a pet is like losing a family member so my heart goes out to you both! I'm sure it's hard but hope you both are OK. Like Heather said, I'm sure he loved spending his last months with two who loved him!
As Krista said Hugs to both of you!
That's so sad! I'm sorry for both of you. At least he's not in pain anymore though and at least he was able to enjoy his last home with you guys.
oh that's too bad! I am sorry that happened to you. Love and kisses from us!
